History of Onaga
Onaga was first planned out in 1877 by the railroad company. Its name comes from "Onago," a personal name from the Potawatomi Native American people. Paul E. Havens, who was the President of the Kansas Central Railroad, gave the city its name.
The first post office in Onaga opened in December 1877. Onaga officially became a city by 1881 and then again in 1926.
