Onaka is a small town in Faulk County, South Dakota, United States. In 2020, only 13 people lived there. The name "Onaka" comes from the Dakota word oyanka, which means "place."

Onaka's History
Onaka started in 1907. It was built as a stop for trains on a special railway line. This line was part of the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway.
The railway connected Conde and LeBeau in South Dakota. Trains stopped running to Onaka in 1940.
