The One Arrow First Nation (also called kâ-pêyakwâskonam in Cree) is a Cree First Nation community. They have their own band government in Bellevue, Saskatchewan, Canada. Their main land, called a reserve, is near Batoche, Saskatchewan and the South Saskatchewan River. This area is about 100 kilometers northeast of Saskatoon. The reserve is in a beautiful area known as the aspen parkland. It shares borders with the Rural Municipalities of St. Louis No. 431, Fish Creek No. 402, and Duck Lake No. 463.

History of One Arrow First Nation

The One Arrow First Nation is named after its leader, Chief One Arrow. He was an important person who signed Treaty 6 at Fort Carlton in 1876. This treaty was an agreement between First Nations and the Canadian government.

In the 1880s, the One Arrow First Nation had disagreements about land with the Métis people from Batoche. They were also involved in the North-West Rebellion, a historical event in Canada. Chief One Arrow said his people were pressured to join Louis Riel and the Métis.

Leadership and Community

Today, Chief Tricia Gamble leads the One Arrow First Nation. She is in charge of the band government.

The One Arrow First Nation is also the birthplace of Tom Jackson. He is a famous singer, songwriter, actor, and humanitarian.

Communities close to the One Arrow First Nation include Batoche, Bellevue, and Wakaw.

One Arrow First Nation Reserves

The One Arrow First Nation manages fourteen different land areas, which are called reserves. These lands are important to the community. The main reserve is One Arrow Indian Reserve No. 95. Other reserves are located in different parts of Saskatchewan.
