Water Flow in Lake Opinicon
Water flows into Lake Opinicon mainly from the Rideau Canal. This water comes from Indian Lake, passing through special gates and a lock at Chaffey's Lock. Chaffey's Lock is also a popular spot for tourists and people with cottages.
Other streams, like Loughborough Lake Creek and Rock Lake Creek, also bring water into the lake. The main way water leaves Lake Opinicon is through Davis Lock, flowing into Sand Lake. Eventually, all this water travels through the Cataraqui River and reaches Lake Ontario.
Fun Activities at the Lake
Lake Opinicon is a super popular place for fishing! Many people also have cottages here for vacations. If you visit Chaffey's Lock, you can find The Opinicon Hotel, which is a historic resort.
