The oriole is a beautiful bird that belongs to the family called Oriolidae. These birds are often called "Old World orioles" because they live in parts of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Most orioles prefer warm, tropical places, but one special kind, the golden oriole, can be found in cooler areas.
Many types of orioles are known for their very bright and colourful feathers, which makes them easy to spot!
About Orioles
Orioles first appeared a long, long time ago in a region called Australasia (which includes places like Australia and New Zealand). From there, they slowly spread across to Eurasia (Europe and Asia).
It's important to know that these "Old World orioles" are not related to birds called "New World orioles." New World orioles live in the Americas and are actually part of the blackbird family, called Icteridae. Even though they share a name, they are quite different!
