Orlando Keith McDaniel (born December 1, 1960 – died March 27, 2020) was an American football player. He was a wide receiver, which means he was a player who catches passes. Orlando played college football for the LSU Tigers from 1978 to 1981. After college, he played professionally for the Denver Broncos in 1982.
During his time at LSU, he played in 44 games. He caught 64 passes for a total of 1,184 yards and scored three touchdowns. The Denver Broncos picked him in the second round of the 1982 NFL Draft. He played in only three NFL games and did not catch any passes. Orlando McDaniel passed away in March 2020 at 59 years old due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Early Life and College Football
Orlando McDaniel was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. He went to Lake Charles High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. After high school, he attended Louisiana State University, also known as LSU.
At LSU, Orlando played as a wide receiver for the LSU Tigers football team. He played for four seasons. During this time, he caught 64 passes for 1,184 yards. He also scored three touchdowns. In 1981, he gained 17.5 yards for each pass he caught. This was the second-best in the Southeastern Conference. His 719 total receiving yards that year ranked fourth in the conference.
Beyond Football: Track and Field
Orlando McDaniel was not just a football player. He was also a talented track athlete. In 1980, he finished second in the 110-meter hurdles race. This was at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships – Men's 110 meter hurdles.
Later in his life, Orlando started his own track club. It was called the North Texas Cheetahs Track Club. He was the founder and coach of this team.
Later Life and Passing
Orlando McDaniel passed away on March 27, 2020. He was 59 years old. His death was due to complications from COVID-19. This happened during the COVID-19 pandemic in Texas.
