Orlando Ribeiro de Oliveira, born on January 9, 1967, is a Brazilian football coach and a former player. People often call him Orlando Ribeiro or just Orlando. He used to play as a central defender, which is a player who helps protect the goal. Today, he is the head coach for the under-20 team at Corinthians, a famous football club in Brazil.

Playing Football

Orlando Ribeiro started playing football when he was just 11 years old. He joined the youth team of Juventus-SP in São Paulo, Brazil, where he was born. After playing for Juventus-SP's main team, he moved to Ituano.

In 1993, Orlando played for Atlético Mineiro, a big team in Brazil's top league, the Série A. He later returned to Ituano and played for several other clubs in his home state. These clubs included Sãocarlense, Francana, União Barbarense, Santo André, Etti Jundiaí, and São José-SP.

Orlando retired from playing football when he was 37 years old. One of his biggest achievements as a player was winning the Campeonato Paulista Série A2 in 1998 with União Barbarense.

Coaching Career

Orlando Ribeiro began his coaching journey at São Paulo in 2010. He started as a technical evaluator, helping to find and assess new talent. The next year, he became the coach for the club's under-15 team.

In 2014, he moved up to coach the under-17 team. Then, on March 21, 2018, he became the head coach for São Paulo's under-20 squad, taking over from André Jardine.

Orlando left São Paulo in February 2021. A few months later, in July, he joined Palmeiras as the coach for their under-17 team. He stayed there until February 2022, when he moved to Santos to coach their under-20 team.

In September 2022, Orlando Ribeiro was asked to be the interim (temporary) coach for Santos' main team. He took over after the previous coach, Lisca, left. He continued in this role until the end of that season.

After his time with the main team, Orlando went back to coaching Santos' under-20 squad for the 2023 season. He left Santos in September 2024. Just eleven days later, he started a new role as the head coach for the under-20 team at Corinthians.
