Ortonville is a small village located in northern Oakland County, Michigan. It is part of Brandon Township. Some areas near the village are also in Groveland and Hadley. In 2021, about 1,291 people lived here. Ortonville is on the northern edge of Metro Detroit, about 41 miles (66 km) north of Downtown Detroit.

About Ortonville
Ortonville is a quiet village in northern Oakland County. It was started in 1848 by a person named Amos Orton. He built a dam across Kearsley Creek to power his gristmill, which ground grain. The town was officially mapped out in 1866. It became an incorporated village in 1902. Ortonville is located roughly halfway between the cities of Pontiac and Flint.
In 2010, the village of Ortonville had 1,422 residents. Brandon Township, which Ortonville is part of, had a population of 15,175. Nearby Groveland Township had 5,476 people.
Other towns close to Ortonville include Goodrich to the north and Oxford to the east. To the south is Clarkston, and to the west is Holly.

The main public schools for Ortonville are part of the Brandon Schools district. Most students come from Brandon, Groveland Township, and Hadley Township. Some students also come from parts of northern Clarkston and western Oxford. The sports teams at Brandon High School are called the Blackhawks. They compete in the Flint Metro League.
