Otego is a small village in Otsego County, New York, United States. It is part of the Mohawk Valley Region of the state. In 2010, about 1,010 people lived there.
The Village of Otego is located in the southern part of the Town of Otego. It is southwest of the city of Oneonta.

History of Otego
Early Settlement
There were no major European settlements in the Otego area until after the American Revolution. This means the land was mostly undeveloped by Europeans before the late 1700s. After the war, more people began to move into and settle this region.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers a total area of 1.1 square miles (about 3.0 square kilometers). All of this area is land. There are no large bodies of water within the village limits.
Nearby Features and Roads
The village is situated north of Interstate 88, a major highway. It is also north of the Susquehanna River, an important river in the region. NY Route 7 runs through the village. County Highway 7, also known as Otsdawa Avenue, enters Otego from the north.
