Over the last 50 years, the number of people living in Oteros de Boedo has gone down a lot. This is because many people have moved away from the countryside in Spain. The Castile and Leon region has been especially affected by this.
Many people left the Province of Palencia between the 1950s and 1970s. There were not many jobs or services available. Also, workers were not valued highly. Because of this, thousands of people moved to other parts of Spain. They hoped to find better opportunities there. This caused the province to lose 20% of its working population in just 30 years.

Later, it became part of the municipal council of Collazos de Boedo.
