Otter Lake is a freshwater lake located in the northwestern part of Ontario, Canada. It is found within the Kenora District, a large area known for its many lakes and forests. This lake is an important part of a huge water system that eventually leads to Hudson Bay.

Otter Lake is a natural lake in a wild and beautiful part of Canada. It sits at an elevation of about 209 meters (or 686 feet) above sea level. The lake is a key part of the Hudson Bay drainage basin. A drainage basin is like a giant bowl where all the rain and snowmelt collect and flow into one main river or lake. For Otter Lake, its waters are all headed towards Hudson Bay.
Water Flow and Connection
Otter Lake is special because it is the starting point, or source, of the Otter River. This means the Otter River begins its journey right here. The water from Otter Lake flows into the Otter River, which then connects to other rivers.
Journey to Hudson Bay
The Otter River doesn't flow directly into Hudson Bay. Instead, it joins up with other rivers along the way. First, the Otter River flows into the Fawn River. After that, the Fawn River flows into the much larger Severn River. Finally, the Severn River carries all this water, including the water that started in Otter Lake, all the way to Hudson Bay. This shows how all the lakes and rivers in a drainage basin are connected, like a giant watery puzzle.

Otter Lake is located in a remote area, but it is close to some important places. It is found just southeast of another lake called Angling Lake. Angling Lake is home to the Wapekeka First Nation, an Indigenous community. The Angling Lake/Wapekeka Airport is also located near Angling Lake, providing a way for people to travel to and from this remote region.
