Overpelt (which means Upper Pelt) is a town in Belgium. It is located in the Limburg province. Until 2019, Overpelt was its own separate municipality. A municipality is like a local government area.
In 2018, about 15,478 people lived in the municipality of Overpelt.

The former municipality of Overpelt was made up of a few different areas. These areas are:
- the main town centre
- Holheide
- Overpelt-Fabriek
- Lindelhoeven
Healthcare in Overpelt
Overpelt has several important healthcare facilities. These places help people who are sick or need special care.
Hospitals and Clinics
In 2005, a new hospital called St. Mary opened. It was created by combining two older hospitals from nearby towns, Lommel and Neerpelt.
There is also a special clinic called the MS-clinic. This clinic helps people who have multiple sclerosis (MS), a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. Another important place is Sainte-Ode, which is a center for people with disabilities.
Becoming Pelt
On January 1, 2019, something big happened for Overpelt. It joined together with the nearby municipality of Neerpelt. They merged to form a brand new municipality called Pelt. This means Overpelt is now part of the larger area of Pelt.
