Owen Cooper (born on December 5, 2009) is a talented English actor. He became well-known for his first big role as Jamie Miller, a teenager accused of a serious crime, in the Netflix TV show Adolescence in 2025. For this role, he won a Primetime Emmy Award! This made him the youngest male actor ever to win this award. Owen also has exciting roles coming up. He is set to play a young Heathcliff in the movie Wuthering Heights (2026) and Callum in the BBC series Film Club.

Owen Cooper's Early Life
Owen Cooper was born in Warrington, England. His mom works as a carer, and his dad works with computers. He has two brothers. When he was younger, Owen loved football and played for the Warrington Rylands U15 team. He first dreamed of becoming a footballer. However, he later started taking acting lessons every week at The Drama Mob, a drama school in Manchester. He shared that he was inspired to try acting after watching Tom Holland in the movie The Impossible (2012). His family was very supportive of his interest in acting.
Owen Cooper's Acting Career
In March 2025, Owen Cooper made his acting debut on screen. He played Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old character, in the Netflix miniseries Adolescence. The show's co-creator, Stephen Graham, wanted to find a new actor from northern England for this important role. The team behind Adolescence contacted Owen's drama school. They asked to see videos of their best young actors from the north. Teachers at the school felt Owen had a special talent. The production team visited the school many times before offering him the part. Owen was chosen from more than 500 young actors who auditioned! He filmed the series between July and October 2024.
Owen's performance received amazing reviews. The Evening Standard newspaper even wrote that his acting might be "the best debut ever seen by a child actor." He went on to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. This made him the youngest male actor to ever win an Emmy. He also won a Gotham TV Award for his great supporting performance in a limited series.
In May 2025, Owen appeared in the music video for "Little Bit Closer" by the English musician Sam Fender. He also has a role in the BBC Three series Film Club. Additionally, he was chosen to play a young Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell's movie Wuthering Heights, which is expected to be released in 2026.

Owen Cooper lives in Orford, Cheshire, which is a part of Warrington. He is a big fan of Liverpool F.C., a famous football team. On April 12, 2025, he even got to deliver the match ball at a Super League rugby game between Warrington Wolves and Hull F.C.. In his free time, Owen enjoys playing on his PlayStation, especially games like Grand Theft Auto.
