History of Paden
Paden has an interesting past. An early settler named Thomas Paden built his home here. He called his home "Castle Garden."
During the American Civil War, which was a big war in the United States, Union troops burned down Castle Garden. Because of this, the area became known as "Burnt Hill." Later, when the town officially became a village, its name was changed to Paden, honoring its first settler.
Geography and Nature
Paden is located in the northwest part of Tishomingo County. It sits just north of Mississippi Highway 30. This highway connects Paden to other towns nearby.
Waterways and Lakes
A very important waterway, the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, runs just west of Paden. This waterway is a large canal system that connects rivers and helps boats travel. There's also a park called the Paden Overlook Area along this waterway, which is a nice spot to visit.
The village covers about 0.9 square miles (2.33 square kilometers) of land. It doesn't have any water area within its official borders.
