Welcome to Palm Bay!
Palm Bay is mostly a residential area, meaning it has lots of homes. But it also has open spaces and parks for everyone to enjoy. It's one of the many beautiful bays along the coast of Thanet.
What is Palm Bay Like?
Palm Bay is located between two other bays, Walpole Bay and Botany Bay. It's a popular spot, especially for water sports. The eastern part of Palm Bay is also known as Forness Bay. This area is home to a local water skiing club, where people can learn and practice water skiing.
Fun on the Water
If you love water activities, Palm Bay is a great place to visit. It's well-known as a center for Jet Skiing. Imagine zipping across the water on a jet ski! The calm waters here make it perfect for both beginners and experienced riders.
A Look at Palm Bay's Homes
The first homes in the Palm Bay area were built in the 1930s. These were large, wide streets with detached and semi-detached houses. They often had their own driveways, garages, and gardens. The land for these homes was sold in 1924. Some of these original streets include Gloucester Avenue and Leicester Avenue.
Over time, the area grew. Newer homes were built in different phases. Some of these later houses were smaller and looked very similar to each other. They were built on what used to be open fields.
The Big Event Airshow
Palm Bay has also been the location for exciting airshows! The Kent Airshow first took place here in 2005 and again in 2006. From 2007 to 2009, the event was renamed "The Big Event." It wasn't just about amazing air displays; it also featured a funfair, making it a big celebration for families and visitors.
