Pandelela Rinong anak Pamg (born March 2, 1993) is a famous Malaysian diver. She has won many medals in big competitions. These include two Olympic medals and seven World Championships medals.
Pandelela first represented Malaysia at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She was chosen to carry Malaysia's flag at the 2012 Summer Olympics. There, she won a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform diving. This made her the first Malaysian female athlete to win an Olympic medal. She was also the first Malaysian to win an Olympic medal in a sport other than badminton. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won a silver medal with Cheong Jun Hoong in the 10-meter synchronized platform event.

Early Life and Education
Pandelela was born in a village called Kupuo Jugan in Bau, Sarawak. Her parents are Hartini Lamim and Pamg Joheng. She is from the Bidayuh ethnic group, who are native to Sarawak. She is the second of four children in her family.
When she was seven years old, Pandelela was chosen to be a state diver. She then trained at the Bukit Jalil Sports School. In 2018, she finished her studies at the University of Malaya. She studied Sports Management Science. Pandelela can speak Mandarin, Bidayuh, Malay, and English.
Diving Career Highlights
Pandelela started her international diving career in 2007. She won four gold medals at the Asian Junior Aquatics Championships. At the 2007 Southeast Asian Games, she won a gold medal in 10-meter synchronized platform with Cheong Jun Hoong.
Olympic and World Championships Success
Pandelela first competed in the Olympics at the 2008 Beijing Olympics when she was 15. She finished 27th in the 10-meter platform. At the 2009 World Aquatics Championships, she won a bronze medal in the 10-meter synchronized platform with Leong Mun Yee. This was Malaysia's first diving medal ever at the World Championships.
She was Malaysia's flag bearer at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. There, she won silver medals in both the 10-meter platform and 3-meter springboard events.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, Pandelela was again the flag bearer for Malaysia. She became the first Malaysian female athlete to have this honor. She won a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform. This made her the first Malaysian woman to win an Olympic medal. It was also the first Olympic medal for Malaysia in a sport other than badminton.
In 2015, Pandelela made history at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. She became the first Malaysian to win an individual medal at this event. She earned a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform. This also helped her qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won a silver medal with Cheong Jun Hoong. They competed in the 10-meter synchronized platform. This was the first silver medal won by a Malaysian women's team at the Olympics. After the 2016 Olympics, Pandelela took a break to recover from injuries.
In 2021, at the 2021 FINA Diving World Cup in Tokyo, Japan, she won a gold medal. This was in the individual 10-meter platform event.
Commonwealth and Asian Games Achievements
At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, Pandelela won Malaysia's first gold medal in an aquatic sport. She won the 10-meter platform event. At the 2010 Asian Games, she won a bronze in the 10-meter platform and a silver in the 10-meter synchronized platform.
In 2014, despite a knee injury, she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. This was in the 10-meter synchronized platform with Nur Dhabitah Sabri. She also won a silver medal in the individual 10-meter platform.

To celebrate her achievements, the Sarawak Aquatic Centre in Petra Jaya, Kuching, was officially renamed the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre in 2018.
