Patna is a village in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It is located in an area that used to be split between two traditional districts: Carrick and Kyle.
The village was founded in 1802 by a man named William Fullarton. He built it to provide homes for people working in the coal mines on his land. Fullarton's father had worked for the British East India Company. Because of this, the village was named after the city of Patna in the Bihar province of India.
