Patrick Donald Edward Rowe was a professional football player. He played as a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL). He played for one season. Before joining the NFL, he was a star player in college. He earned special honors as an All-American in 1990. The Browns picked him in the 1992 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School

Patrick Donald Edward Rowe was born on February 17, 1969. His hometown is San Diego, California. He went to Lincoln High School in San Diego. After his senior year, he played in a high school football all-star game. He broke his collarbone during this game.

College Football Career

Rowe played college football for the San Diego State Aztecs. This team is from San Diego State University. He was a key player, called a letterman, in 1987, 1988, 1990, and 1991.

Freshman and Sophomore Years

In 1987, his first year, Rowe caught nine passes. These catches gained 197 yards. He also returned three kicks for 109 yards. In 1988, he caught 18 passes for 267 yards. He scored one touchdown that year. He also returned 31 kicks for 799 yards.

Redshirt Year and All-American Season

Rowe did not play in the 1989 season. This is called a redshirt year. He had to sit out because he tore a knee cartilage before the season started.

In 1990, Rowe had an amazing year. He caught 71 passes for 1,392 yards. He also scored eight touchdowns. He returned 15 kicks for 324 yards. Because of his great performance, he was named a second-team All-American. His 1,392 receiving yards were the most in NCAA Division I-A that season.

Senior Year and Records

In 1991, his senior year, Rowe continued to play well. He caught 57 passes for 822 yards. He also scored four touchdowns. He set an NCAA Division I-A record that year. He had nine straight games where he gained at least 100 receiving yards.

Professional Football Career

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns picked Patrick Rowe in the 1992 NFL draft. He was the 52nd player chosen overall. He officially signed with the team on July 16, 1992. However, he was placed on injured reserve on August 25, 1992. This meant he missed the entire 1992 season due to injury.

In 1993, Rowe played in five games for the Browns. He caught three passes for 37 yards. He was released by the team on August 28, 1994.

Other Teams

Rowe signed with the San Francisco 49ers on March 20, 1995. But he was released by them on July 11, 1995.

He then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on July 21, 1995. However, he was released just two days later.
