Early Life and Education Work
Netser was born in a community called Coral Harbour, Nunavut. Before he became a politician, he worked in education. He was part of the Coral Harbour District Education Authority. He also served on the regional education board. This means he helped make decisions about schools and learning in his area.
Serving in the Legislature
First Term: 2003-2008
Patterk Netser was first elected to the 1st Nunavut Legislature in September 2003. This happened during a special election called a by-election. During his time, he took part in important discussions about new laws. One of these was about a law to protect people's rights. Members of the Assembly voted on different parts of this law.
Second Term: 2017-2021
Netser was elected again in 2017. During the 5th Nunavut Legislature, he was given important jobs. He became a Minister, which is like a leader for certain government departments. He was in charge of the Nunavut Housing Corporation. This group helps people find homes. He also oversaw the Nunavut Arctic College, which provides education after high school.
Later, his roles as a Minister were changed. This happened after he shared some of his views online. In Nunavut, the government works by "consensus." This means members vote to decide who holds ministerial roles. On October 23, 2020, the Assembly voted to change his ministerial positions.

Netser is connected to the Conservative Party of Canada. This is a political party at the national level in Canada. He supported Leslyn Lewis during the leadership election for the Conservative Party in 2020.
