Paulilatino (pronounced Pow-lee-lah-TEE-no) is a small town, also called a comune (municipality), located on the beautiful island of Sardinia in Italy. It's part of the Province of Oristano. This town is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) northwest of Cagliari, which is a big city in Sardinia, and about 25 kilometers (15 miles) northeast of Oristano.
Paulilatino is surrounded by several other towns. These include Abbasanta, Bauladu, Bonarcado, Fordongianus, Ghilarza, Santu Lussurgiu, Solarussa, Villanova Truschedu, and Zerfaliu.

Exploring Paulilatino's Ancient History
Paulilatino is famous for its amazing ancient sites. These places tell us a lot about the people who lived here thousands of years ago.
The Santa Cristina Holy Well
One of the most important places is the archaeological complex of Santa Cristina. It dates back to the 12th century BC! This means it's over 3,200 years old. It includes a special well and other buildings used for ceremonies. This site is a key part of the Nuragic civilization.
The Nuragic people lived in Sardinia during the Bronze Age. They built unique stone towers called nuraghe and other impressive structures.
Design of the Well
The well at Santa Cristina is very special. It was built with smooth basalt stones. It has three main parts:
- An oval-shaped area around the well.
- Stairs shaped like a trapezoid that lead down.
- A round room with a pointed, arched ceiling (called an ogival ceiling) where the water collects.
In front of the well, you can still see the remains of huts where Nuragic villagers lived. There was also a gathering place where people met.
Other Ancient Discoveries
Besides the Santa Cristina well, Paulilatino has many other historical treasures. You can find numerous nuraghe, which are the ancient stone towers built by the Nuragic people. There are also many domus de janas, which means "houses of the fairies." These are ancient burial sites carved into rocks.
San Teodoro Church
The town also has the beautiful church of San Teodoro. It was built in the Aragonese-Gothic style. This style combines elements from the Gothic architecture of Europe with influences from the Aragon kingdom.
