Santu Lussurgiu is a small town in Sardinia, Italy. It is located in the Province of Oristano. The town is about 110 kilometers (68 miles) northwest of Cagliari. It is also about 25 kilometers (16 miles) north of Oristano.
Santu Lussurgiu is surrounded by other towns. These include Abbasanta, Bonarcado, Borore, Cuglieri, Norbello, Paulilatino, Scano di Montiferro, and Seneghe.

Exploring Santu Lussurgiu
Santu Lussurgiu sits high up, about 503 meters (1,650 feet) above sea level. It is surrounded by beautiful forests of oak and chestnut trees. The town is located near the edge of a very old, extinct volcano called Montiferru.
Local Museums and Churches
You can visit a rural museum in Santu Lussurgiu. It shows old tools used for making cheese and working with iron. You can also see tools used for farm work long ago.
The main church in town is San Pietro church. It is located in a square with the same name. Another church, Santa Maria degli Angeli, is near the Market Square.
Sant'Antonio al Monte
Sant'Antonio al Monte is a mountain near the town. It is about 808 meters (2,651 feet) high. The mountain is covered with many different trees, including some very old oak trees.
A church was built here in 1944 to honor Saint Anthony. Inside, there are two statues: one of the Madonna and one of Saint Anthony. Outside, there is an altar for services. There is also a path called the Way of the Cross. Along this path, you can see statues that show parts of the story of the Passion of Christ.
San Leonardo de Siete Fuentes
San Leonardo de Siete Fuentes is a small village nearby. It is located about 684 meters (2,244 feet) above sea level. This village is mostly busy during the summer. People come here to enjoy the cooler weather. It has a very old church from the 12th century. This church is built in the Romanesque style and is dedicated to Saint Leonard.

Sa Carrela e Nanti
One of the most famous events is "Sa Carrela e Nanti." This is a thrilling horse race held on a steep road. Riders wear masks and race in pairs. This event happens every year during the last three days of Carnival.
Cantigos in Carrela
Another fun Carnival event is "Cantigos in Carrela." During this event, folk groups from all over Sardinia come together. They parade through the streets of the village, sharing their traditional music and dances.
