Paurito is a small town in Bolivia, a country in South America. It is located in the Santa Cruz Department.
Where is Paurito Located?
Paurito is the main town of an area called Cantón Paurito. It is part of the Santa Cruz Municipality in Andrés Ibáñez Province. The town sits about 356 meters (1,168 feet) above sea level. It is located about 14 kilometers (9 miles) west of the Río Grande. This is one of the biggest rivers in Bolivia's lowlands.
How to Get to Paurito
Paurito is about 27 kilometers (17 miles) southeast of Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is the capital city of the department.
From Santa Cruz, there is a paved road called Ruta 4/Ruta 9. This road goes 18 kilometers (11 miles) east to a town called Cotoca. Then it continues to Puerto Pailas, where it crosses the Río Grande. After crossing the river, it reaches Pailón on the eastern side.
From Pailón, Ruta 4 goes further east for 587 kilometers (365 miles). It ends at Puerto Suárez, which is near the border with Brazil. Ruta 9 goes north from Pailón for 1175 kilometers (730 miles) to Guayaramerin.
Near Cotoca, a dirt road turns off Rutas 4/9 and heads south. This road leads directly to Paurito after about 16 kilometers (10 miles).

Because many people have moved to this area over the years, there are some Quechua people living here. In the Santa Cruz Municipality, about 12 percent of the people speak the Quechua language.
