Peck is a small community, also known as a census-designated place (CDP), located in Kansas. It's mostly in Sedgwick County, but a small part is also in Sumner County. In 2020, about 162 people lived there. You can find Peck about two miles west of the Kansas Star Casino, right next to the Union Pacific Railroad.

Discovering Peck's Past
How Peck Began
Peck's story began in 1887. That year, a railroad company called the Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska Railway built a train line right through the area. This line connected towns like Herington and Caldwell.
The Railroad's Journey Through Peck
Over the years, the railroad changed hands many times. It became part of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway, then the Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas Railroad, and later the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Today, it's part of the Union Pacific Railroad. Even with all these changes, many local people still call it the "Rock Island" railroad!
Naming the Town of Peck
The first post office in Peck opened in October 1887. The town was named after George Peck, who owned a hotel in the area.
