Pembroke (pronounced /ˈpɪmbrʊk/ or PIM-bruuk) is a small town in Giles County, Virginia, United States. In 2010, about 1,128 people lived there. It is part of the larger Blacksburg–Christiansburg metropolitan area.
Pembroke is famous for the Mountain Lake Lodge. This lodge was a filming location for the popular movie Dirty Dancing.

History of Pembroke
Pembroke was first settled in the mid-1750s. It is located along the New River, an old and important waterway. The town got its name in 1845. The postmaster, John Lybrook, chose the name after reading it in a book, possibly a play by William Shakespeare.
Pembroke is also home to a very special library. It is the smallest library in Virginia! This historic building used to be a stop for stagecoaches and a post office a long time ago.
Where is Pembroke Located?
Pembroke is located at 37°19′19″N 80°38′11″W / 37.32194°N 80.63639°W. This means it's in the southwestern part of Virginia.
The town covers a total area of about 1.1 square miles (2.9 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the town limits.
