Discovering Peppermill Reno
The Peppermill Reno started as a simple coffee shop and lounge. Today, it's a huge resort with a beautiful pool area that looks like it's from Tuscany, Italy. It has over 1,600 hotel rooms and hundreds of fancy suites. There's also a massive space for events and meetings.
You can find many places to eat, including a café that's open all day and night. For entertainment, there are 15 different themed bars and lounges. The whole place feels like a trip to Tuscany, with its special design.
Relax at Spa Toscana
The Peppermill also has a huge spa called Spa Toscana. It's a giant place, about 33,000 square feet! Inside, you'll find a warm indoor pool and a sunny deck. There are 24 rooms for treatments and a salon where you can get pampered. The spa also has a large health club. Outside, there are two pools heated by natural hot water, with private cabanas and an outdoor bar.
A Look Back in Time
The Peppermill Coffee Shop and Lounge first opened its doors on April 23, 1971. It was started by two good friends, Nat Carasali and Bill Paganetti. In 1979, the Peppermill added a small casino, and a motor lodge opened in 1980. The resort grew even more in 1986, adding a convention center and a tall hotel tower.
The Peppermill company also expanded to other cities. In 1972, they opened a restaurant in Las Vegas. Later, they opened other places like Western Village in Sparks, Nevada in 1983. They also opened the Rainbow Club in Henderson, Nevada and a Peppermill in Wendover, Nevada.

Heating with Earth's Power
In 2009, the Peppermill started an amazing project. They decided to heat their entire property using geothermal energy. This means they use heat from deep inside the Earth! They drilled a special well that goes down about 4,421 feet (1,348 meters). This well taps into a natural reservoir of hot water.
The water from deep underground is about 170°F (77°C). This hot water is perfect for heating the whole resort. It replaced four large boilers that used to burn fuel. This geothermal system provides almost all the heating the resort needs. It even helps with some of the cooling!
The Peppermill was planned to be the only hotel in the United States heated only by geothermal energy from its own property. This is a great example of using clean, natural energy.
