Pero Antić is a famous Macedonian basketball player who is now a basketball leader. He was born on July 29, 1982. He used to play professionally and was known for his strong skills on the court.
Pero Antić was also the captain of the Macedonian national basketball team. He is very tall, standing at 6 feet 11 inches (2.11 meters). He mainly played as a power forward, but he could also play as a center. Today, he is the president of the Basketball Federation of North Macedonia.

Pero Antić's Basketball Journey
Starting His Career in Europe
Pero Antić played for many different basketball teams in Europe. Some of these teams include Rabotnički Skopje, AEK Athens, and Crvena zvezda. He also played for Academic Sofia and Spartak St. Petersburg.
In 2006, he won the Serbia and Montenegro National Cup with Red Star Belgrade. He was named the most valuable player (MVP) in the Bulgarian National Basketball League during the 2007–08 season. In that season, he scored about 23.3 points and grabbed 9.3 rebounds per game.
In the EuroChallenge 2010–11 season, he helped his team, Spartak St. Petersburg, reach the EuroChallenge Final Four. He averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in that competition.
Winning Big with Olympiacos

After playing very well at the EuroBasket 2011 tournament, Antić joined Olympiacos Piraeus. He signed a two-year contract with them on September 26, 2011. With Olympiacos, he achieved great success.
He won the top European club basketball title, the EuroLeague, two times in a row. These victories happened in 2012 and 2013. He also helped his team win the Greek League championship in 2012.
Playing in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks

On July 25, 2013, Pero Antić signed a two-year contract to play for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA. This was a big step in his career.
He scored his first points in an official NBA game on November 1, 2013. This was during a home game where the Hawks won against the Toronto Raptors. On December 28, he made a game-tying three-pointer with only three seconds left, sending the game into overtime. The Hawks won that game.
On January 3, 2014, Antić started his first NBA game because the team's main center, Al Horford, was injured. He played very well, scoring 16 points and getting 7 rebounds. He also made four three-pointers.
Antić was chosen to play in the Rising Stars Challenge game during the NBA All-Star 2014 weekend. However, he could not play due to an ankle injury. On April 6, 2014, he scored his highest points in an NBA game, getting 18 points against the Indiana Pacers.
The Hawks made it to the playoffs that season. Antić started in the first playoff game and helped his team win. He played an important role in guarding the opposing team's star player, Roy Hibbert.
Returning to Europe with Fenerbahçe
On June 30, 2015, Antić signed a contract with the Turkish team Fenerbahçe. In his first season there, he won the Turkish Cup.
Fenerbahçe also reached the final game of the 2016 Euroleague Final Four, but they lost in overtime. In 23 EuroLeague games that season, he averaged 8 points and 4.3 rebounds. At the end of the season, Fenerbahçe also won the Turkish League championship.
Back to Crvena zvezda
On September 11, 2017, Pero Antić returned to play for Crvena zvezda for the 2017–18 season. He finished his professional playing career there in 2018.
Playing for His Country: The National Team
Pero Antić was a key player and captain for the Republic of Macedonia national team. He played a big part in his team reaching the semi-finals of EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania.
He was known as one of the best rebounders in the tournament, getting about 8.8 rebounds per game. He also scored 11.5 points per game. His best scoring game was against Spain in the semi-finals, where he scored 17 points.
Antić was also a strong defender and helped Macedonia reach the top four teams in the tournament. He captained the Macedonian team again at EuroBasket 2013. Although he played well, Macedonia was eliminated early. After this, Antić decided to retire from playing for the national team.
Pero Antić's Playing Style
Pero Antić was known for his strong body, good jump shot, and ability to dunk. He was good at "pick and roll" plays, which is a common basketball move. He could also shoot three-pointers very well for a player of his size.
Even though he wasn't always the highest scorer, he was a good passer. On defense, he was excellent at predicting plays and positioning himself well. This made him a great rebounder in Europe. He was also known for being very determined when guarding star players from other teams.

Pero Antić's Life Outside Basketball
Pero Antić was born in Skopje, which is now in North Macedonia. He is a big fan of the Belgrade basketball club Red Star, where he also played for several years.
He has several tattoos, including ones that show his family and the badge of the Crvena zvezda team supporters. He also has a tattoo of the flag of Macedonia. Besides being a citizen of North Macedonia, he also has Bulgarian citizenship.
After the EuroBasket 2011 tournament, Pero Antić received an honorary academic title from FON University in Skopje. In July 2024, Antić was seen working as an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns in the 2024 NBA Summer League. This was a tryout for a coaching position with the team.
