High School Basketball Career
Perry Jones was a top basketball player in high school. Experts like ESPNU, Scout.com, and Rivals.com ranked him among the best players in the class of 2010.
In his junior year, he helped lead his team, Duncanville, to a big championship game in Texas. They almost won, losing by just one point. Because of his amazing skills, Jones was chosen for the McDonald's All-American team in 2010. This is a special honor for the best high school players in the country.
College Basketball Career

Perry Jones decided to play college basketball for Baylor University. He started playing for them in the 2010–2011 season. In his first game, he scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
During his first year at Baylor, Jones averaged about 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. Even though Baylor's team had some struggles, Jones was still recognized as one of the best players in the Big 12 Conference. He was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.
In March 2011, Jones faced a challenge. He was not allowed to play in a game because of some small loans his parents had received from his AAU coach before he joined Baylor. These loans were less than $1,000 and were paid back. Even though it was a small amount, college rules are very strict. This meant he missed a key game, and Baylor's chances of making the NCAA Tournament ended.
Despite this, Perry Jones decided to return to Baylor for his second year. He continued to play well, averaging similar points and rebounds.
