High School Basketball Stardom
Perry Jones was a top-rated high school basketball player. Sports experts at ESPN, Scout.com, and Rivals.com all ranked him as one of the top 10 players in the country in 2010.
During his junior year at Duncanville High School, he helped lead his team to the Texas 5A regional championship game. His amazing talent earned him a spot on the 2010 McDonald's All-American team, an honor given to the best high school players in the United States.
After high school, many top colleges wanted him to play for them. Jones decided to commit to Baylor University and started playing for the team in the 2010–11 season.
College Career at Baylor

In his first game for Baylor, Jones scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. During his first year, he averaged 13.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team for his great performance.
In March 2011, Jones had to sit out a key tournament game due to a rule violation from before he joined Baylor. The team lost the game, which ended their chances of playing in the NCAA Tournament that year. Jones was allowed to return to Baylor for his second year but had to miss the first five games of the season.
He decided to return to Baylor for his sophomore (second) year. In his second season, he continued to play well, averaging 13.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
