The Peru poison frog prefers certain types of environments. Their natural habitat includes primary premontane forests. These are forests found on the lower slopes of mountains. They also live in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, which are warm and wet.
You can often find them near rivers and in freshwater marshes. Sometimes, they live in marshes that dry up and fill with water again, known as intermittent freshwater marshes. These wet and forested areas provide the perfect home for these colorful amphibians.
