Mehdi Benjelloun (born November 10, 1999), known as Petit Biscuit, is a French DJ and music producer. He is known for his special way of mixing acoustic sounds, electronic music, and changed voices in his songs. His music style combines electronic and classical music influences. He says his music is meant to make you feel like you're traveling, thinking deeply, and connecting with nature.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Mehdi Benjelloun was born to a Moroccan father and a French mother. He grew up learning to play many instruments, including piano, cello, bass, and guitar. Even though he learned classical instruments, he really loved electronic music. He found that electronic music allowed him to create "unlimited combinations of music." He started writing his first songs secretly in his room.

In July 2017, he finished high school with high honors in science. He then started studying at Paris-Dauphine University in September 2017. However, he decided to leave the university in March 2018 to focus completely on his music career. The name "Petit Biscuit" means "little cookie" in French, and it comes from his love for the French pastries his grandmother used to bake.

Music Career Highlights

Petit Biscuit first shared his music on SoundCloud. A company called Electro Posé noticed his talent. On June 15, 2015, he released his song "Sunset Lover" as the main song from his first EP (Extended Play). This song became a huge hit, getting over 62 million views and more than 400 million streams online.

His first EP, also called Petit Biscuit, came out on May 13, 2016. "Sunset Lover" became a worldwide success, with over 350 million streams.

In December 2017, Petit Biscuit released his first full album, Presence. Music critics called it a "powerful" album. It was even named the Album of the Week in Australia by Triple J radio. The album featured other artists like Lido, Bipolar Sunshine, and Cautious Clay. It also included popular songs like "Waterfall" and "Sunset Lover."

Petit Biscuit performed at the Victoires de la Musique in Paris, which is like the French version of the Brit Awards. He was nominated for his album, Presence. To keep control over his music, he started his own music company called "Petit Biscuit Music."

In April 2018, he performed at the famous Coachella Festival for the first time. He has also toured around the world, playing concerts in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Mexico, and Canada.

In early 2019, he released new songs like "Wide Awake" and "We Were Young," which featured JP Cooper. On October 30, 2020, Petit Biscuit released his second studio album, Parachute. His latest album, Discipline, was released on June 28, 2024.
