The Peña Montañesa (which means "Mountain Peak" in Aragonese) is a very noticeable rocky mountain in the Pre-Pyrenees region of Spain. It stands tall to the east of the Cinca river valley. You can find it in the Sobrarbe area of Aragon, Spain.
The highest point of Peña Montañesa is 2295 meters (about 7,530 feet) above sea level. The small village of Laspuña is located right at the bottom of this impressive mountain.
From the top of Peña Montañesa, you can enjoy amazing views. You can see many of the main peaks of the Pyrenees mountains to the north. It's a great spot for looking out over the landscape!
During a time of war in Spain, Peña Montañesa was an important place. It was used by soldiers defending the area against another army. This happened during an event known as the Bolsa de Bielsa.
At the foot of Peña Montañesa, near a village called El Pueyo de Araguás, you can find the old ruins of the Real Monasterio de San Victorián. This was once a very important monastery.
