Phil Homeratha (born March 22, 1943 – died December 29, 2011) was an important American sports coach, teacher, and college sports leader. He coached many different sports, like football, basketball, cross country, track and field, and wrestling. He worked at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.

Phil Homeratha was the head football coach for Haskell's team in 2010. He also led the women's basketball team as head coach from 1995 to 2011. For five years, he was the school's athletic director, which means he was in charge of all the sports programs. He retired from coaching in February 2011.

Phil Homeratha was born on March 22, 1943. His birthplace was Red Rock, Oklahoma. His parents were Curtis and Luella Homeratha.

He was a member of the Otoe–Missouria Tribe of Indians. This is a Native American tribe.

Phil Homeratha graduated from Haskell Institute in 1961. Later, he went to Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri. There, he earned a Bachelor of Education degree. He also earned a Master of Education degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.

Later Life and Legacy

Phil Homeratha passed away on December 29, 2011. He died in Lawrence, Kansas. He was a respected figure in college sports.

His work helped many student-athletes. He made a big impact at Haskell Indian Nations University.
