Phillippi Dwain Sparks, born on April 15, 1969, is a former American football player. He was a talented cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). A cornerback is a defensive player who tries to stop the other team from catching the ball. Phillippi played college football for the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Early Days and College Football
Phillippi grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Maryvale High School in 1987. After high school, he played football at Glendale Community College. He played there from 1987 to 1989. Phillippi helped his team win a national championship in 1988. This was a big achievement for the college team.
He then went on to Arizona State University. While there, he was part of the Sigma Chi fraternity. His skills on the field caught the eye of professional teams.
Playing in the NFL
In 1992, Phillippi was chosen by the New York Giants. He was the 13th pick in the second round of the 1992 NFL draft. He played as a left cornerback for the Giants for many years. He often played alongside another great player, Jason Sehorn. Together, they formed a strong defensive team.
Phillippi played for the Giants until the 1999 season. In the 2000 season, he joined the Dallas Cowboys. He played for a total of nine seasons in the NFL. Phillippi announced his retirement from football on August 28, 2001.
Life After Football
Today, Phillippi Sparks lives in San Diego. He has a son and a daughter. His daughter, Jordin, is a very famous singer. She won the sixth season of American Idol in 2007. She has also been nominated for a Grammy Award.
