Pine Cobble Mountain is a cool place to visit in Williamstown, Massachusetts. It's like a smaller peak of a bigger mountain called East Mountain. This mountain is part of the Clarksburg State Forest. People love to hike here because it has amazing views! From the top, you can see all of Williamstown, the Mount Greylock mountain range, and even North Adams.

Scientists from the USGS have measured the very top of Pine Cobble. It is 577 meters (or 1,894 feet) above sea level. That's almost as tall as 600 average-sized people standing on top of each other!

The hiking trail to Pine Cobble is about 1.6 miles long. The land where the trail is located belongs to a few different groups. These include the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Williams College, and the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation, Inc. The Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation works with the Williams College Outing Club to keep the trail in great shape for hikers.

The Pine Cobble Trail is a popular path for hikers. It leads to the rocky top of Pine Cobble Mountain. But it's also a way to reach other famous long-distance trails!

Connecting to Famous Trails

If you keep hiking past the Pine Cobble rocky area for about half a mile, you will reach the Appalachian Trail. This is a very long hiking trail that goes all the way from Georgia to Maine!

The Pine Cobble Trail also helps people get to Vermont's Long Trail. This trail starts right at the border between Massachusetts and Vermont. At this border, the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail meet up. From there, they both enter the beautiful Green Mountain National Forest. So, Pine Cobble is a great starting point for many adventures!
