Pinjar is a quiet, rural area located in Perth, Western Australia. It's part of the City of Wanneroo, which is like its local council. Pinjar is mostly made up of pine forests and wetlands, with only a small number of people living there.

Pinjar's Past

Pinjar gets its name from a big, swampy lake nearby, located northeast of Wanneroo. This lake name has been on government maps since 1868. The name comes from the Noongar people, who are the traditional owners of this land. We don't know the exact meaning of 'Pinjar,' but it might mean "tadpole" or "swampy lake."

Racing Fun in Pinjar

Pinjar is famous for its exciting motorsport venues, where you can watch different kinds of racing!

Wanneroo Raceway

Pinjar is home to the Wanneroo Raceway, a 2.411-kilometre (1.498 mi) road racing track. This raceway opened in 1969 and is the main place for car racing in Western Australia. It hosts a big event every year called the Supercars Championship, where powerful cars race at high speeds.

Pinjar Park Speedway

Pinjar also has the Pinjar Park Speedway, which opened in 2005. This track is 142 metres (155 yd) long and is used for motorcycle speedway racing. It's a popular spot for both national and international races. You can see both senior and junior riders, as well as sidecar teams, racing here. Pinjar Park is considered a smaller speedway in Australia. Most other tracks are much longer, usually between 350 metres (380 yd) and 600 metres (660 yd). This speedway replaced older tracks like the Claremont Speedway and the Bibra Lake Speedway.
