Banksia Grove is a suburb in Perth, Western Australia. It is part of the City of Wanneroo. Its postcode is 6031. Until the late 1990s, it was part of Neerabup. Banksia Grove is about 27 km northeast of Perth's city center. It is also 8 km east of the coast.

Growing Banksia Grove: A Modern Community

In 2005, a big project started to build more homes in Banksia Grove. This project aimed to add 3500 new homes. This was in addition to the 650 homes already there. By 2020, about 12,000 people were expected to live here. The new areas have many different kinds of houses for everyone.

Newer homes in Banksia Grove have super-fast internet. This is called fibre to the premises. It is provided by NBN Co. Older parts of the suburb are also getting this fast internet.

Banksia Grove has many important places for its residents:

  • The Banksia Grove District Shopping Centre, which has been built in stages.
  • A special area for education. This includes the new Joseph Banks Secondary College. It also has shared sports fields and a planned primary school.
  • A large 42-hectare area of natural bushland. This is called a Bush Forever zone.
  • Over 30 hectares of parkland. This includes Discovery Park. It has a cool water feature and an adventure playground.

In late 2018, a new housing area called "Coda" began development. It is close to the shopping center. This area mainly has smaller, two-story homes.

Banksia Grove has grown a lot over the years. In 2001, about 1,136 people lived here. By 2006, the population grew to 1,940. In the 2016 census, 9,350 people called Banksia Grove home.

Banksia Grove Village was the first part of the main shopping center. It has a Coles Supermarket and a service station. You can also find fast food places and cafes there. Later, Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets opened. Other shops like a chemist and hairdresser are also available. A car wash facility opened in early 2019.

Discovery Park is a great place to visit. It has a man-made stream with ponds. There are sunny and shaded grassy areas. You can also find picnic tables and free electric barbecues. The stream is home to many colorful koi fish. The park also has an outdoor amphitheater.

Next to Discovery Park is Pitstop Playground. It has a special cycleway for kids to practice riding bikes. There is also lots of play equipment.

  •        Route 391: Travels from Banksia Grove to Joondalup Station. It goes along Glasshouse Drive, Botanic Avenue, Ghost Gum Boulevard, and Jewel Way. This route serves the Banksia Grove Shopping Centres. Some buses also extend to Joseph Banks Secondary College.

Banksia Grove is a growing community. Local police work hard to keep the area safe. The suburb has a neighbourhood watch program. This helps neighbors look out for each other.
