Philippa Elaine Fanti Bennett-Warner (born 23 July 1988) is a talented British actress. She started her acting journey as a child, playing young Nala in the very first London show of The Lion King in 1999. She later received nominations for important awards like the WhatsOnStage and Ian Charleson Awards for her roles in the musical Caroline, or Change (2006) and the play King Lear (2010).
On television, Bennett-Warner has starred in popular shows. These include the crime drama Gangs of London (which started in 2020) on Sky Atlantic, and the BBC thrillers Roadkill (2020) and Chloe (2022).

Philippa Bennett-Warner grew up in Buckinghamshire, England. She went to St Edward's School in Oxford. Her family background is from Jamaica and Saint Kitts. She has an older sister named Georgina.
Philippa's Acting Career
Starting Out: Early Roles (1999–2009)
Philippa's acting career began in 1999. She was part of the original London cast of The Lion King. In this famous musical, she played one of the young Nalas.
In 2006, she joined the musical Caroline, or Change. For her role as Emmie Thibodeaux, she was nominated for a Whatsonstage.com award in 2007. After this, she played the main role in Victory for the Peter Hall Company. She then went to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in September 2007.
Becoming a Star: Breakthrough Roles (2010–Present)
Philippa finished her studies at RADA in 2010. She left early to take on the role of Sophie in the play Ruined at the Almeida Theatre. She also won the Carleton Hobbs Radio Award, a special prize for radio acting.
After Ruined, she acted in a short TV film called Crocodile. Then, she was cast as Cordelia in Michael Grandage's famous play King Lear. She acted alongside Derek Jacobi, a very well-known actor. Before starting King Lear, she filmed small parts in TV shows like Come Fly With Me and Case Histories.
Philippa received praise for her role in King Lear. She then played Denise in a new play called The Swan at the National Theatre. After that, she was Queen Isabel in Richard II in 2010. Critics really liked her performance in Richard II.
In 2012, she played the main role in The Witness at the Royal Court Theatre. She received excellent reviews for her natural acting. She was nominated for Best Actress at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2012. She was also named one of the 1,000 Most Influential Londoners that year.
From 2018 to 2019, she played the main character in The Maya Angelou Autobiographies for BBC Radio 4. In 2020, she narrated Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo for the BBC.
Philippa's Personal Life
Philippa is an Ambassador for The Theatres Trust. This group helps protect and support theatres.
She is also good friends with actor Jonathan Bailey. They appeared together in an episode of Doctor Who called "Time Heist" in 2014.
