Pisek (pronounced PEES-ik) is a small city located in Walsh County, North Dakota, in the United States. In 2020, about 89 people lived there.

History of Pisek

Pisek was started in 1882 by settlers from a region called Bohemia. This area is now part of the Czech Republic. The settlers named the new city after their hometown, also called Písek.

The word "Pisek" means "sand" in the Czech language. The city might also have been named this way because there is a sandy ridge nearby. In 1913, the Pisek School was built, which was an important part of the community.
