Plaza is a friendly neighborhood in Long Beach, California. It's right next to El Dorado Park West. Plaza is also part of a bigger area called "East Long Beach."
A Look Back at Plaza's History
Plaza started as a new housing development. It was built in different stages. It was part of a larger area called Lakewood Plaza. In March 1953, people living in parts of Lakewood Plaza voted. They decided to join the city of Long Beach. This was a big step for the area.
The area that joined Long Beach was about half a mile square. Its boundaries were Spring Street, Studebaker Road, Stearns Street, and Palo Verde Avenue. Since the 1960s, many grocery stores have opened. You can find them at Palo Verde and Spring Street.
Where is Plaza Located?
Plaza is in the eastern part of Long Beach. It is entirely north of Interstate 405. This is a major highway. The southern edge of Plaza is Stearns Street. Studebaker Road forms its eastern border.
On the west side, the border is Palo Verde Avenue up to Spring Street. Then it becomes Woodruff Avenue up to Conant Street. East Spring Street is a main area for shopping and eating. It is located right in the Plaza neighborhood.
