Pornpetch Wichitcholchai (Thai: พรเพชร วิชิตชลชัย, RTGS: Phonphet Wichitchonlachai; born 1 August 1948) is a Thai lawyer. He served as the President of the Senate of Thailand from May 2019 until July 2024. Before that, he was the President of the National Legislative Assembly from August 2014 to May 2019.

Education and Early Life
Pornpetch Wichitcholchai was born in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 1, 1948. He attended high school at Vajiravudh College. After high school, he went on to study law at Chulalongkorn University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He continued his studies at the Harvard Law School in the United States, earning a master's degree.
Career in Law and Government
Pornpetch Wichitcholchai started his career working for the government in a legal role for the Council of State. He became a judge in the Supreme Court of Thailand. He also served as the chairman of the Court of Appeal Region 4 and later as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Besides his work as a judge, he was also a professor of law at several universities. He played an important part in international law as the Executive Director of the ASEAN Law Association since 1987. He also chaired the National Law Committee of the ASEAN Law Association.
Leadership Roles in Thailand
While serving as the President of the National Legislative Assembly, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai was invited to a special meeting. This meeting was the World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). He gave a speech at the United Nations during this event.
On December 1, 2016, as the President of the National Legislative Assembly, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai had an important duty. He invited Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn to become the new King of Thailand. This happened after the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
On May 24, 2019, the Senate, which is a part of Thailand's parliament, held its first meeting. The members of the Senate chose Pornpetch Wichitcholchai to be their president. He was the only person nominated for the role. He served in this position until July 2024.
