The Port del Cantó is a mountain pass in Catalonia, Spain. It is also known as Coll del Cantó or Coll de la Pedra del Cantó. This pass is very high up, at about 1,730 meters (5,676 feet) above sea level.
You can find the Port del Cantó where two towns meet: Soriguera and Montferrer i Castellbò. These towns are in areas called comarcas, which are like regions. Soriguera is in Pallars Sobirà, and Montferrer i Castellbò is in Alt Urgell. The pass is part of the Pyrenees mountain range.
The pass is located on the N-260 road at kilometer 260. It connects the Serra Seca mountains to the north with the Serrat de Pratprimer to the south. The road to the top of the pass is about 28.8 kilometers (17.9 miles) long.
Cycling Challenges: Tour de France
The Port del Cantó is a famous spot for professional cyclists. It has been part of the challenging Tour de France race several times. Cyclists often climb the western side of the pass during the race.
