Pramod Sawant is an important Indian politician. He was born on April 24, 1973. He is currently the Chief Minister of Goa, a state in India. He has held this top position since March 2019.
Before becoming Chief Minister, he worked as an ayurveda medical practitioner. This means he is a doctor who practices a traditional Indian system of medicine. He is also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, a major political party in India. He represents the Sanquelim area in the Goa Legislative Assembly, which is like the state's parliament.

Early Life and Education
Pramod Sawant was born in Mapusa, Goa. He studied to become an Ayurveda doctor. He earned a special degree called a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery. This degree teaches about traditional Indian medicine.
He also earned a postgraduate degree in Master of Social Work from Tilak Maharashtra University in Pune. This degree helps people understand and solve social problems.
Political Journey
Pramod Sawant began his journey in politics by running in an election in 2008. He was a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party. Even though he did not win that first election, he kept working in politics.
Becoming a Member of the Assembly
In 2012, he ran for election again in the Sanquelim area. This time, he won and became a Member of the Goa Legislative Assembly. This means he was chosen by the people of Sanquelim to represent them in the state's government.
He was re-elected from Sanquelim in the 2017 election. This showed that people in his area trusted him to continue representing them. On March 22, 2017, he was chosen to be the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly. The Speaker is like the leader who makes sure meetings run smoothly.
He won his third election in a row in 2022, again representing Sanquelim. This was a very close election, showing how much support he had.
Becoming Chief Minister
In March 2019, the Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar, passed away. This left an important position open. Pramod Sawant was chosen by the members of the Legislative Assembly to become the next Chief Minister. He was sworn in on March 19, 2019. As Chief Minister, he is the head of the state government in Goa.
Personal Life
Pramod Sawant is married to Sulakshana Sawant. They got married on May 28, 2005. Sulakshana is a teacher and is also involved in politics. She is a leader in the women's wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Goa. Pramod and Sulakshana have one daughter, who was born in 2006.
