Prattsburgh is a small community in Steuben County, New York, United States. It is the main "hamlet" (a very small village) and a "census-designated place" (CDP). A CDP is an area that looks like a town but isn't officially governed as one.
In 2020, about 589 people lived in Prattsburgh. The entire town of Prattsburgh had a population of 2,085 people. Prattsburgh used to be an official "village" from 1848, but it stopped being one in 1972.
Location and Geography
Prattsburgh is located in the northeastern part of Steuben County. It sits in the east-central area of the larger town of Prattsburgh. The community is found on the west side of a valley.
This valley is home to Fivemile Creek. This creek flows south and eventually joins the Cohocton River. The Cohocton River is part of the larger Susquehanna River watershed. A watershed is an area of land where all the water drains into a single river or lake.
New York State Route 53 is the main road that goes through Prattsburgh. This road can take you to other nearby places. For example, it goes northwest about 11 miles (18 km) to Naples. It also goes south-southwest about 12 miles (19 km) to Interstate 86 at Kanona.
