Bath is a town in Steuben County, New York, in the United States. It covers about 96 square miles (249 km2). In 2020, about 11,426 people lived there.
The biggest community in the town is the Village of Bath. This village is the main town for Steuben County. The town of Bath is in the middle part of the county. It is northwest of Elmira. The town and village might be named after the city of Bath in England. Another idea is that they were named after Lady Bath. She was the daughter of a rich landowner.

History of Bath
The town of Bath was started in 1793. It was part of a large land deal by a rich British man named William Pulteney. He named the town after Bath, Somerset in England. He owned many properties there.
Bath was created at the same time as Steuben County in 1796. It was one of the first towns in the county. Over time, parts of Bath were used to create seven other towns. The Lackawanna Railroad built its main line through Bath. A train station opened here in 1882.
The first jail in Bath was built in 1796. It was made of logs and stood west of Pulteney Square. Later, a stronger stone building replaced it. In 1828, a brick courthouse was built. It was later destroyed by fire. A new courthouse was built right away using the same plans.

The United States Census Bureau says Bath covers 96.3 square miles (249.4 km2). Most of this area, 96.0 square miles (248.6 km2), is land. Only a small part, 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), is water.
Roads and Rivers
- Interstate 86 (also called the Southern Tier Expressway) goes through the town.
- New York State Route 54 and New York State Route 415 meet in Bath village.
- New York State Route 53 starts in the community of Kanona.
- New York State Route 226 goes through Savona.
The Cohocton River flows through the town. It passes by the small communities of Kanona, Bath, and Savona.
