The Prime Minister of Burundi is a very important leader in the country's government. This person helps the President manage the country and its daily operations. The role of Prime Minister was first created in 1961. It was stopped for a while in 1998 but brought back in 2020.
Since 1961, fifteen different people have served as Prime Minister of Burundi. This includes times when Burundi was a kingdom and when it became a republic. Two people, Pierre Ngendandumwe and Albin Nyamoya, held the job more than once. The current Prime Minister is Gervais Ndirakobuca, who started on September 7, 2022.
