A Special Gift
In 1962, a former resident named Onni Nurmi did something amazing. He gave the village 760 shares in a company called Nokia. Back then, Nokia was mostly known for making rubber work boots.
Onni Nurmi had one condition for his gift. He wanted the money earned from these shares to be used to help elderly people in the village. He also said the shares should never be sold.
After some discussions, the shares were later managed differently. Now, the money from these shares helps to pay for a special center and services for the elderly. This shows how a thoughtful gift can help a community for many years.
