Purdy is a small city in Missouri, United States. It is located in Barry County, within Purdy Township. The city sits near the Ozarks. You can find it about eight miles south of Monett and twelve miles north of Cassville. Highway 37 runs right through it. In 2010, about 1,098 people lived in Purdy.

History of Purdy
Purdy was officially planned and mapped out in 1880. The city got its name from George A. Purdy. He was a person who helped promote the railroad in the area. A post office opened in Purdy in 1880 and has been helping people send mail ever since.

In 2010, a count of the population showed 1,098 people living in Purdy. There were 399 households in the city. About 271 of these households were families. The city had about 1,689 people per square mile.
Most of the people in Purdy were White (81.9%). Some residents were Native American (1.3%) or Asian (1.5%). About 11.8% of the population belonged to other racial groups. Also, 3.5% of people were of two or more races. A significant part of the population, 26.0%, identified as Hispanic or Latino.

Education in Purdy
The Purdy R-II School District runs the schools in the city. This district includes one elementary school and one middle school. It also operates Purdy High School.
The school board in Purdy has rules about dancing. Dancing is not allowed in Purdy schools unless the school board gives special permission. This rule was confirmed in 1990.
