Quebrada Honda is a barrio located in the municipality of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. A barrio is like a neighborhood or a small area within a town. In 2010, about 1,881 people lived in Quebrada Honda.
History of Quebrada Honda
Quebrada Honda has an interesting past. After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States in 1898. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the United States. This means it is part of the U.S. but not a state.
In 1899, the United States Department of War counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census showed that 1,616 people lived in Quebrada Honda barrio back then.
