History
Quebradillas has an interesting history! After the Spanish–American War, which ended in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the United States. This means it is part of the U.S. but does not have all the same rights as a state.
In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 1,051 people lived in Quebradillas barrio at that time. Over the years, the number of people living in Quebradillas has grown quite a bit!
