Queen of the South Football Club is a professional football team from Dumfries, Scotland. The club was started in 1919. They play in Scottish League One, which is the third highest league in Scottish football.
People often call them Queens or QOS. Their traditional nickname is The Doonhamers. Their home stadium is Palmerston Park.
Queens have won the Division B Championship once (1950–51). They also won the Second Division Championship twice (2001–02 and 2012–13). The team won the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2002–03 and 2012–13.
In the 1953–54 season, Queens were at the top of Scotland's main football league until New Year. Their best finish ever in the top league was fourth place in 1933–34. In 2008, they reached their first big cup final, the Scottish Cup. They finished as runners-up to Rangers. The team's current manager is Peter Murphy.

The club's fans are also famous for their good behavior. In 2008, when Queens played in Denmark for the UEFA Cup, Danish police praised their supporters. About 850 fans traveled to watch the game.
Police Inspector Rune Hamann said the fans were "extremely well behaved." He added that they were "a great credit both to their club and to Scotland." Chief Inspector Mickey Collins from Dumfries and Galloway police also praised the fans. He noted there were "no arrests, incidents or issues of any concern."
Some famous people support Queen of the South. The DJ and music producer Calvin Harris grew up in Dumfries and is a fan. He even thought about writing a song for the team when they reached the 2008 Scottish Cup Final. Bill Drummond, a musician from The KLF, also supports the team.
Club Mascot
The club's mascot is 'Dougie Doonhamer'. Dougie is a human-sized border collie dog. A local supermarket worker named Brian Harkness has played Dougie for many years.
Dougie Doonhamer has even won races! He won the Ladbrokes SPFL mascot race at Hamilton Park in 2017. He won it again in 2018, making it two wins in a row!
