Quezon Avenue

Quezon Avenue is a very important road in Metro Manila, a large city area in the Philippines. It is a wide road, with 6 to 14 lanes for cars. This means it has 3 to 7 lanes going in each direction. The road is about 7.1 kilometers (4.4 miles) long.

Quezon Avenue starts at the round Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. It ends at the round Welcome Rotunda. This rotunda is a circle that marks the border between Quezon City and Manila. Manila is the capital city of the Philippines. Along its path, Quezon Avenue meets other major roads. These include Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and Gregorio Araneta Avenue. Many drivers think it is one of the easiest roads to drive on in Quezon City.

What's in a Name?

Quezon Avenue is named after Manuel L. Quezon. He was the second president of the Philippines. Before it was called Quezon Avenue, the road had a different name. It was known as Don Mariano Marcos Avenue. This name honored Mariano Marcos, who was the father of President Ferdinand Marcos.

The road was built in the middle of the 1970s. This was when Ferdinand Marcos was the president of the country. After his time as president, the road's name was changed. It was then given the name Quezon Avenue.
